چکیده

Nowadays, effective and competitive company operation can be achieved through incorporating the concept of supply chain operation into company management. Inventory control, as a critical part of the supply chain management, becomes the second most frequent application area for simulation technique in logistics (after manufacturing). The dynamics of supply chain operation is characterised by the bullwhip effect that reflects an increase in demand variability while moving upwards the supply chain. This paper proposes an analytical model for the analysis and numerical evaluation of the bullwhip effect in supply chains. Simulation technique is used to validate the results obtained from the analytical model. Based on the validation results, the logic of the analytical model is examined, and some specifications of the analytical model are analysed and described.

Analyzing Bullwhip Effect in Supply Networks under Exogenous Uncertainty

This paper explains a model for analyzing and measuring the propagation of order amplifications (i.e. bullwhip effect) for a single-product supply network topology considering exogenous uncertainty and linear and time-invariant inventory management policies for network entities. The stream of orders placed by each entity of the network is characterized assuming customer demand is ergodic. In fa...

The bullwhip effect: Progress, trends and directions

The bullwhip effect refers to the phenomenon where order variability increases as the orders move upstream in the supply chain. This paper provides a review of the bullwhip literature which adopts empirical, experimental and analytical methodologies. Early econometric evidence of bullwhip is highlighted. Findings from empirical and experimental research are compared with analytical and simulati...

 The Quantification of Uncertainties in Production Prediction Using Integrated Statistical and Neural Network Approaches: An Iranian Gas Field Case Study

Uncertainty in production prediction has been subject to numerous investigations. Geological and reservoir engineering data comprise a huge number of data entries to the simulation models. Thus, uncertainty of these data can largely affect the reliability of the simulation model. Due to these reasons, it is worthy to present the desired quantity with a probability distribution instead of a sing...

Using Control Theory to Explore the Bullwhip Effect in the Supply Chain for a Deteriorating

The bullwhip effect phenomena in supply chain management were discussed a lot in the literatures. Most of them provided empirical evidences or analytical formulas to demonstrate the existence of the bullwhip effect in a simple two or more echelons supply chain. This paper will explore the phenomena in a quite different situation: a supply chain with deteriorating products. Unlike the convention...

On the Bullwhip Effect Measure in Supply Chains with VAR (1) Demand Process

In this paper, a two-echelon supply chain, which includes two products based on the following considerations, has been studied and the bullwhip effect is quantified. Providing a measure for bullwhip effect that enables us to analyze and reduce this phenomenon in supply chains with two products is the basic purpose of this paper. Demand of products is presented by the first order vector autoregr...
